We are pleased they have chosen to be part of our Diocese and we heartily welcome them to join us as we worship the Lord and fulfill the mission, vision and values of our Diocese to the glory of God alone.
This past Sunday two Collects were available for use for Anglicans around the world. I’m sure you used one of them. Here they are:
Blessed Lord, who caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Merciful God, who sent your messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation: Give us grace to heed their warnings and forsake our sins, that we may greet with joy the coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
These are good prayers for us all during this season of Advent. When we hear, read, mark, learn and inwardly digest the Holy Scriptures we will discover that Jesus is our ONLY Savior and Lord and we will also inevitably be led to preach repentance. But it is not enough to preach or believe in repentance, we must practice it in our daily living and ministry otherwise we are simply deceiving ourselves. God calls us to self-examination and my prayer is the Lord will grant us grace to forsake our sins and hold fast our Lord Jesus Christ because in Him alone can we find mercy, peace and the blessed hope of everlasting life.
May the Lord renew and refresh you and your family during this season of Advent. Amen.
Warm regards,
The Rt Rev’d Dr Felix Orji, OSB.
