By:
- Felix Orji
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so; For those whom thou think’st thou dost overthrow die not…One short sleep past, we wake eternally. And Death shall be no more: Death, thou shalt die!
John Donne, Holy Sonnet X
Dear Friends,
Earlier today, Wednesday February 11, 2026, our Communications Officer & Regional Archdeacon for Alberta(Canada), the Venerable Dr David Jayeola passed from this earthy life into the nearer presence of Almighty God. He is survived by his wife, Deborah and his son, Mr Faith. We give thanks to Almighty God for the life of Venerable Jayeola, his commitment to Jesus Christ, faithful ministry in our Diocese, and his love for the faith once entrusted to the saints.
We will miss him very much. As we grieve his loss, we are reminded that our brother is at rest in the presence of God because of the death-destroying death and victorious resurrection of Christ our Savior. That is the basis of our hope eternal life and communion. And for this we are immensely grateful to the Lord.
We extend our sincere condolences to his wife and family in Calgary and Nigeria during this time of bereavement, confident in the promise of eternal life for all who trust in Jesus Christ.
On behalf of the Anglican Diocese of All Nations, I wish to express our since gratitude to our Diocesan Medical Director, Sir Dr Izu Nwachukwu who has been extraordinarily dutiful for about two years in freely providing medical guidance and visitation to the late Venerable David Jayeola. Our appreciation also goes to Venerable Adewale Makinde for his consistent brotherly assistance to Ven Jayeola. May the Lord bless you both.
Please pray for the family and support them financially as you are able. I have asked my Chaplain, Venerable Tosin Onaseso and Venerable Adewale Makinde to set up GoFundMe Account and Committee of friends for the USA and Canada respectively as the financial need is dire.
May God grant us the comfort of the Holy Spirit and in his mercy rest the soul of David Jayeola in perfect peace. Amen
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.
