The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

We are still in the Easter season and in God’s redemptive providence we live an “Easter life,” that is, a life empowered and enlivened by the risen Christ, even after the liturgical season of Easter is over.

The risen Christ has given us new life and a new perspective of reality that is characterized by a hope and joy inexpressible full of glory. This hope is not sanctimonious optimism which JI Packer calls “a wish without a warrant” but a living and certain hope of an indestructible inheritance stretching from time through all eternity and grounded on the Word of God that fails not and his covenant with us sealed by the blood of His Son and guaranteed by His resurrection.

The living Christ fills our lives with compassion for others, especially for the poor, the lonely, and the disenfranchised. He fills our lives with passion to preach the good news to sinners. He fuels Christian living with resurrection power. As Oliver Donovan once noted, “Christian ethics is resurrection ethics”. We must continually depend on the risen living Christ for everything : life, peace, hope, joy, godliness, power for mission and ministry, and grace for fellowship now and for all eternity.
